The Ambassadors of Funk return to Boisdale to play their most spectacular, full-band live shows ever! These shows will be a celebration of Bill ‘Fatback’ Curtis, who was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in October 2023.
The Fatback Band are one of the most acclaimed Funk & Disco groups to have ever emerged from America. Formed in New York City in 1970, the Fatback Band was the concept of Bill ‘Fatback’ Curtis. Fatback, mixed Jazz, Funk and prefigured Disco and were at the beginning of Rap; their 1979 rap single “King Tim III” was released a week before the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”.
The Fatback Band have released over 35 albums and have had countless hits, which have become club anthems, including:
