The Godfathers of Soul bring the ruckus to E14

Doors: 5.30pm | Live Performance: 9.30 -11.30pm

The British Collective, the bespoke soul ensemble featuring soul legends Junior Giscombe, Noel McKoy Don-E and Omar, take to the Yamaha Music London stage at Boisdale of Canary Wharf for a raucous night of hot grooves and silky soul sounds.
The members of the British Collective come together in the tradition of the great Tamla Motown groups. There is no ‘lead’ singer. They are all gilt-edged, blue-chip, vocalists, who since the 1980s have not only etched their names in the archives of Black music, but have sold millions of records, won countless awards and collaborated with the world’s best including Stevie Wonder, Mica Paris, Juliet Roberts, the late Phyliss Hyman, Erykah Badu and Angie Stone.
Both Junior Giscombe and Noel McKoy made their breakthroughs in the 80s, a rich era for soul in which Junior had a UK Top 10 hit single with “Mamma Used To Say” and success on both sides of the Atlantic, while Noel fronted the James Taylor Quartet. Don-E had a 1992 UK Top 20 hit with “Love Makes The World Go Round”, while Omar had a Top 20 hit with “There’s Nothing Like This” in 1991. In 2012, Omar was awarded an MBE for services to music.
“Four stellar soul artists on the Yamaha Music London stage at a packed Boisdale of Canary Wharf,” said Kavitha Rao, Boisdale’s Director of Music. “It’s going to be an explosive evening.”
