Co-founder of Fairport Convention and Plainsong and one of the most enduring and engaging songwriters and musicians whose work spans the decades. Originally from Scunthorpe but now a born-again Texan.

Iain Matthews ( also popularly known as Ian Matthews ) has had a long singing career dating from the swinging 1960s, where he released material as the vocalist of Pyramid. He later joined Fairport Convention, formed and left Matthews' Southern Comfort, and went on to have a long and winding career, sailing through trends in rock, pop, country and folk with some chart success and maintaining a continuous cult following since his commercial peak in the late 1970s.
The new MSC, a quartet, features an all Dutch lineup. With renowned multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, Bart Jan Baartmans. Keyboardist, Bart de Win, fresh from several seasons with the Birds of Chicago and his acoustic duo Tipjar. Rounding out the lineup is the relatively unknown Utrecht songwriter, guitar & mandolin player, Eric De Vries.
This spectacular band, represents both the past and the present, as Matthews cleverly reinvents some of the classic MSC songs, to accompany the new originals.
If you're looking for an evening of pure, unadulterated, sonic bliss, Matthews Southern Comfort lives.
Six years after their triumphant resurgence and the highly acclaimed album “Kinda New “there is an astonishing new recording “LIKE A RADIO “ Due for release in February 2018,
It features re-imaginings of three classic MSC songs, plus eight stunning new originals. Matthews Southern Comfort are back with fanfare. The Phoenix rises again.
The musicianship and commitment are second to none and the sumptuous, soaring vocal harmonies instantly bring to mind the 60's version of the band.
