From The Jam - Up Close and Acoustic Tuesday 18 May 2021 21:30 Boisdale of Canary Wharf Restaurant

Iconic 80s new wave-era band rocks on
Join the original Jam bassist Bruce Foxton and lead guitarist Russell Hastings on the Yamaha Music London stage at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on Tuesday 18 May and Wednesday 19 May for two evenings of acoustic Jam favourites that will take you back to the heady days of the New Wave movement.
The original Jam disbanded in 1982 with the departure of lead singer and guitarist Paul Weller, but since 2007, Bruce has carried the torch for one of the one of the greatest British bands of the late 70s and early 80s. With tracks such as “In the City”, “Going Underground”, “Eton Rifles”, “That’s Entertainment” and a “Town Called Malice” and albums such as All Mod Cons, Sound Affects and The Gift, the Jam were one of the bands that defined New Wave, a genre that  emerged in 1976 and included the likes of Elvis Costello, The Clash and, of course, the Sex Pistols.

With the help of new lead guitarist Russell Hastings (who bears an uncanny resemblance physically and vocally to original frontman Paul Weller), Foxton, who also played with Stiff Little Fingers, has built up a loyal following of Jam fans, old and new, who love the authentic energy of their blistering live shows, which mine the greatest tracks from the bands six studio albums. From the Jam have played to sell out venues in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

“I loved the Jam as a teenager and I’m glad that we have all grown together, evolving richer and more melodious but with the same energy and passion,” said Boisdale founder Ranald Macdonald. “Putting an acoustic spin on the Jam back catalogue for Canary Wharf shows just how versatile a venue it is and I predict two nights of glorious nostalgia.”
