Take it back to the 90s with Chesney Hawkes

Spend an evening of 90s nostalgia at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on 24 June, when the Yamaha Music London stage will throb to the songs of pop star, songwriter, and actor, Chesney Hawkes.
“Chesney may be best known for “The One and Only”, his 1991 monster hit,” said Ranald Macdonald, “but his recent acoustic, piano driven-music, shows he has developed a richer, more complex and layered sound that is perfect for a memorable evening at our Canary Wharf venue.”

Born into a showbiz family – Chesney’s father, Len, was in the 60s band, The Tremeloes, his mother Carol, an actress and his sister, Keeley, a singer and songwriter – it was hardly surprising that he would set his sights on performing. His breakout role came in the 1991 film Oh Buddy with The Who front man, Roger Daltrey. The film spawned the smash hit “The One and Only”, written by 80s pop legend Nik Kershaw.

There followed eight more singles including the successful “I’m a Man Not a Boy”, “What’s Wrong With This Picture?”, “Another Fine Mess” and “Stay Away Baby Jane”, which he recorded with the late Fountains of Wayne member, Adam Schlesinger.
Chesney has also recorded six albums, the last, Real Life Love, released in 2012. Chesney, who is a solid West Ham fan, has also appeared in four film and TV productions including Let’s Dance for Comic Relief and BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef.
