Horace Andy: Legendary Reggae Superstar Saturday 03 July 2021 21:30 Boisdale of Canary Wharf Restaurant

A Massive Attack singer known for his distinctive vocals and hit songs 'Angel' and 'Five Man Army'
Veteran roots and reggae artist, Horace Andy, will pump up the bass and unleash his shimmering vocals when he takes to the Yamaha Music London stage at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on 3 July.
One of Jamaica’s most influential singers and a pioneer of dance hall reggae, Horace broke through in the early 70s, working with the legendary Jamaican producer Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One label on which he released a string of records including “Skylarking” and “Children of Israel”, both of which topped the Jamaican charts.
But it was his mid-70s collaboration with another Jamaican producer, Bunny “Striker” Lee, that sealed his reputation, with classic hits such as “Just Say Who”, “Don’t Try To Use Me”, “You Are My Angel”, “Zion Gate”, “I've Got to Get Away” and “Something on My Mind”. Horace also released a popular cover of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”.
Since then, he enjoyed a historic collaboration with Massive Attack, appearing as a vocalist on all the Bristol trip hop band’s albums, most notably on the tracks “Spying Glass” and “Five Man Army” as well as “Angel”, one of the single releases on the group’s 1999 3-million-selling album, Mezzanine.
“Horace Andy is a legend in Jamaica and the global roots reggae scene,” said Kavitha Rao, Boisdale’s Director of Music. “It will be an honour to host him at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on an evening in which he will no doubt deploy the full range of his talent and experience with an awesome back catalogue of music.”
