Odyssey - the 70s/80s chart-topping trio who brought you the top ten hits Native New Yorker, Use It Up & Wear It Out, Looking For A Way Out, Don't Tell Me Tell Her, Inside Out and Going Back To My Roots. 

Originally formed in New York, Odyssey were quick to build themselves a reputation as a premier act. Headed up by Steven Collazo, the eldest son of the group’s original founder Lillian Lopez, the group is formed of several talented performers. Sharing the stage with Romina Johnson and Jerdene Wilson, Steven has led the soul singers towards international stardom.

Their fusion of soul, pop, dance, jazz, funk and latin-caribbean rhythms continue to make them popular around the world. In the great tradition that has made them famous, Odyssey's new releases carry their classic sound forward as "old school meets new school meets old school".

From their debut album emerged their first smash single - “Native New Yorker”, an international hit late in 1977. Additionally, Lillian’s eldest son, Steven Collazo had become part of Odyssey behind the scenes, recording as a background vocalist, journeyman session musician and musical director for the their live performances and tours. A couple of years later, the group cut their “Hang Together” album. It contained “Use It Up And Wear It Out”, while the flipside, “Don’t Tell Me, Tell Her” received major airplay on US Black Radio. In the UK, “Use It Up” shot to the top ten, followed by “If You’re Looking For A Way Out”, “Inside Out” and the Lamont Dozier classic “Going Back To My Roots”.

Due to Covid restriction, this is a playback show with three singers. Sharing the stage with Steven are: Kate “Kay Jay” Sutherland, music industry veteran who has performed worldwide with many top artists including Alexander O’neal, Leee John of Imagination, Gwen Dickie (Rose Royce) and Jamiroqui as well as her own club hit “Weekend”, Michelle John, another industry veteran whose vocal dexterity have allowed her to work with and vocally coach artists covering the entire music spectrum, from R&B diva Whitney Houston to legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, and has toured for 13 years with Eric Clapton amongst many others.

ABOUT THE VENUE
Jools Holland is Patron of Music at Boisdale of Belgravia which was founded in 1989. It is a lively, warm and atmospheric restaurant with a number of spaces, including the atrium roofed Macdonald Bar and restaurant, the lovely Courtyard Garden, and the comfortable Terrace, Speakeasy Whisky Bar, three private dining rooms, live music every night, wonderful modern and classical British cuisine and a superb wine list.

Parking is always possible close by after 6.30 pm without a permit.
